Personal Biography
I grew up in West Lafayette, Indiana amidst the stench of pigs, glorious sunsets, and crowds of cheering Purdue Boilermaker fans! I am the middle sister of three girls and remain close to my sisters, though we live far away. I married my sweet husband (and fellow OC teacher) Jeremy Zuidema in the summer of 2013 and am blessed to share life – both personal and professional – with him. In my free time, I love reading, running, crafting, and camping.
Philosophical Biography
I have a strong belief that God has called me to teach and grow in community here at Ontario Christian School. Having attended a Christian school through 8th grade, I believe God used my own Christian schooling as a tool for getting to know Him and His Word and to direct me towards my personal decision to follow Him in my own life. I am honored to have the opportunity to “do life” with my students, particularly middle schoolers who are beginning to explore the Christian faith as a personal choice instead of family tradition. I believe in several goals for my role as a teacher: (1) to demonstrate the love of Christ to each of my students (2) to guide students as they begin or continue their journey as Christ’s followers and to equip them with the knowledge and wisdom to make wise choices in their lives and (3) to encourage a standard of academic excellence in my classroom which motivates students to work to the best of their abilities. Know that I consider my job a ministry and pray continually for each of my students.
