Ontario Christian School Board Notes

OC Families,
Ā
It’s hard to believe we are a quarter of the way through the school year already. As weĀ  complete our first full week of October, I want to highlight another example of our commitment toĀ Growing Christian Leaders.Ā The week of September 22, we transported our high school students and faculty to Hume Lake for a 4-day retreat that focused on building Christian community and deepening faith. While at the retreat, students spent time socializing, engaging in team buildingĀ activities, worshipping, digging into their faith, and learning more about God.Ā
Ā
The Ontario Christian SchoolĀ BoardĀ met on Monday, September 22.Ā NotesĀ from theĀ BoardĀ meeting follow:
  • TheĀ BoardĀ heard a report from OC AD EddieĀ Arnett who talked about the state of the athletic department, its strengths and areas for growth, and goals for the future. He highlighted the quality and commitment of the coaches and the overall support for athletics in theĀ community. Some of his goals are to ensure we do things well and utilize best practices and to continue to invest in our facilities.
  • TheĀ BoardĀ reviewed and approved monthly financials, administrator reports, and committee reports.
  • An Education Committee has been established.Ā BoardĀ member Julie Bykerk will serve as the chair. FellowĀ boardĀ member Bin Kim and OC staff members LuAnna Odom, Randy Cardona, and Kevin Vos will be on the committee in addition to parent representatives Debbie Peters and Kevin Stott. The first formal meeting will take place in October.
  • TheĀ BoardĀ affirmed that OC will follow presidential orders to determine when the flag should be lowered to half staff.
  • TheĀ BoardĀ continues to review policies and procedures as necessary.
  • TheĀ BoardĀ set a date in November for its annual strategic planning meeting.

Ontario Christian Theatre is proud to present their fall play: This Murder Was Staged. It’s dramatic, chaotic, and just suspicious enough. Come see what really happened… or what we want you to think happened.

  • Thursday, Oct. 23 at 7:00 p.m. | Saturday, Oct 25 at 6:00 p.m.
  • $20 ticket includes Murder Mystery Munchies and Coffee Bar
  • Location – Albers Chapel
