Course Catalog

Students will explore the science of matter from a subatomic level up to a molecular level, focusing on topics like scientific measurement, the structure of matter, chemical formulas, the mole, chemical reactions, balancing equations, stoichiometry, atomic structure, the periodic table and its properties, bonding, states of matter and the gas laws, and acids and bases. As part of this course’s laboratory component, students will gain experience in the design and execution of experiments as well as presenting the results of their experiments to their peers. Students will investigate challenging questions focused on areas where there are apparent conflicts between biblical teachings, scientific evidence, and popular cultural beliefs. Recommended for students in their Sophomore or Junior year.
