American Government
In this required one semester course, seniors will explore the origins of government and specifically the fundamentals of American government, including such basic topics as liberty, democracy, freedom, and the fundamental worth of the individual, as well as the Constitution and Federalism. Students will also investigate the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government, and its system of checks and balances.Students will also develop an understanding of political views, their own political viewpoints, and how they can actively and effectively participate in American civic life. Students will participate in debates, engage in current events, major political news, and create a mock congress.
