Ontario Christian Elementary School students, Sienna and Solenn Hayden are junior golfers at US Kids Golf. The Hayden sisters fell in love with the game of golf at an early age and have been playing at the US Kids Orange County Local Tour for the last year. Sienna and Solenn’s father, Seneca Hayden, recently played at a local golf tournament alongside Mr. Fakkema, where Mr. Hayden quickly noticed Mr. Fakkema’s passion for the game of golf. It was there that Mr. Hayden asked Mr. Fakkema if he might be interested in caddying for Sienna while Mr. Hayden caddies for Solenn. Mr. Fakkema’s response? “Absolutely!”
Mr. Fakkema would go on to caddy the first tournament of the fall tour at Via Verde Country Club. According to Mr. and Mrs. Hayden, Sienna was super excited the whole week leading up to the tournament. She couldn’t believe her Principal (now Superintendent) would be her caddy! Sienna went on to score her personal best with a 40 on the 9-hole tournament and placed 2nd. Solenn placed 3rd that day with her father, Seneca aka “Daddy Caddy.” The following week Mr. Fakkema caddied for Sienna at Canyon Crest Country Club and shot a 40 again on the 9-hole tournament and placed 2nd again. Mr. Fakkema caddied a third time at the tour championship where his wife Mrs. Fakkema also joined to show her support.
“What a blessing it is that Mr. Fakkema spends time in the community with the OC families,” says Mr. and Mrs. Hayden. “During the tournaments, he helped his player keep pace and calm under pressure. This is just one more example of why we love OC Schools!”
Mr. Fakkema will be caddying again with the Haydens this weekend!
