Professional Biography

I graduated from Dordt College in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education. I began my teaching career that year here at Ontario Christian teaching. In addition to serving on many various committees here at Ontario Christian, I have also continued my education by taking post graduate classes at Cal State San Bernardino, University of California Riverside and the University of San Diego.

Personal Biography

I am a grateful product of Christian education provided by sacrificial parents who understood the significance of its eternal reward. I was born and raised in Artesia, California and graduated from Valley Christian High School in Cerritos. In addition to receiving my teaching degree at Dordt College in northwest Iowa, my years there also instilled in me an abiding love and appreciation for the warmth and beauty of my home state. I began teaching at Ontario Christian in 1980 and I have spent my entire teaching career here. My wife, Arlys, is the 5th -6th grade reading specialist here at OC . We have two adult sons who both graduated from OC and Dordt College. My ties to this school and its community are deep, as is my love & devotion to Ontario Christian. I am thankful for the part I can play in helping to “train up a child in the way he should go…” Proverbs 22:6

Professional Biography

As a Christian School teacher my first responsibility is to know my view of reality. This view is that God created the universe and everything in it. God created man as the crowning jewel of all creation created in His own image. We were endowed by God with a heart commitment to direct our lives in service to God. It is my job as a teacher to guide each student in his/her own search for a meaningful and complete life. Every subject I teach should reflect this view of reality. Another of my roles as teacher is to know that God called me to this job and that in my work I must responsibly serve my creator. The better I realize this, the better I will model Christ-like behavior to my students. I must remember that students will respond best to me when I show Christ-like love and concern for them. I would say that my main role as a teacher is that of nurturing students to function in their daily roles responsibly and help them to find a purpose in what they are doing as stewards of God’s world while letting the Word of God direct all thinking.
